“Balancing colours on two sides of the mirror-image would lead to
consonance, prettiness, which I would avoid. I’ve used colours that
are different but not so opposed that they fly apart. Dissonance in the
sense of a complex relationship, not chaos, disorder. The interaction
of sameness and difference to create a new kind of space.”
